Executive Director of Rise Up For Youth Dr. Shareika Fisher said they serve more than 400 students in class sizes of 10-12, in grades 9th through 12th, at seven high schools within USD 259, “Where our program is appreciated and supported by the staff and teachers. We meet on a weekly basis in group settings and one on one. We take our students on college tours, and they shadow volunteers in different and diverse careers. We provide a safe and social time throughout the school year for all participants. These gatherings offer comradery across schools and create a sense of community.”

The biggest challenge Rise Up For You is facing right now is nearly always funding support because we have a waiting list for students, Dr. Fisher said. Getting programming funds is easier than raising funds for operations. We are at capacity with how many we can serve without further salaried employees.

The community can get involved to help meet these challenges by volunteering, according to Dr. Fisher. Everything matters. From following and sharing our social media, to helping with programming and events, to being a speaker. We lean on and appreciate our volunteers so much.

The community can also participate philanthropically by a recurring monthly gift and joining our Champions Circle. We make it as easy as possible with a direct link on our website: https://www.riseupforyouth.org/

Attending or donating toward and event is also encouraged. Consider one of these upcoming ones:

Farm to Table(aux) Celebrating our 10th year with Art and Soul on October 17th at Mark Arts

Adopt a Senior Provide transition materials and support as these seniors face social or economic challenges as a preventative measure ensuring they stay on track with making good decisions about life

Senior Celebration In May each year

Rise Up For Youth engages with students through empowerment and appreciation, creating long lasting relationships and the motivation to graduate high school. We thank you for your support!
